Costa Brava

The coastal zone of the Costa Brava begins 4kms North of Barcelona and extends to the French border. It is well known for its beaches and resorts, with a scenic and rugged coastline: a succession of coves, cliffs, and mountaintop lookouts dotted along. Some of its areas have been massively dedicated to tourism, but others, such as Tossa de Mar, still retain their original size and fishing village charm. Other picturesque towns and villages can be found all along the Costa Brava, as well as the Greek and Roman ruins of Empúries. The riverside town of Girona features a 13th-century cathedral, an old Jewish quarter, and museums and is well worth a visit. The Salvador Dalí Museum is a must for lovers of surrealism. 

L´Estartit

L´Estartit is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia at the northern end of the Costa Brava. This is a small and very pretty family resort, nestling at the foot of the impressive Montgri mountain range and presided over by a 13th century castle. L´Estartit's position, between the mountains and the plain of the River Ter, gives it the dual advantages of 15 kilometres of beautiful rocky coastline together with one of the longest sandy beaches on the Costa Brava.

Roses

Roses is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Brava. This is the biggest resort on the northern stretch of the Costa Brava, just 30 kilometres south of the French border. Roses is steeped in history with origins going back to the 8th century BC when the first settlers arrived here from ancient Greece. The 1960s saw the arrival of international tourists who have since transformed this centuries old fishing port into a thoroughly modern and popular holiday destination.

Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Brava. This is a pretty town with cobbled streets, a magnificent ancient castle and a beautiful mountainous hinterland with lush green valleys, gorges and natural springs. There's a bustling beach life in this attractive resort which appeals to couples and families rather than all night revellers.

Cambrils

Cambrils is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Dorada. The town has developed as a modern, international tourist destination whilst managing to retain the charm of a traditional Spanish fishing village. Its three biggest attractions are without doubt its golden beaches, its fabulous seafood restaurants and its proximity to the Universal Studios Port Aventura theme park. You'll find plenty to see and do here but this is a fairly relaxed resort - if it's frantic activity you're after, you'll be better off in the next door resort of Salou !

The resort is at the south western end of the Costa Dorada. The name literally means "Gold Coast", taken from the endless miles of fine, golden sand which stretch north east beyond the city of Barcelona to the start of the Costa Brava.

La Pineda

La Pineda is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Dorada. It's one of a trio of popular tourist destinations which all merge into one another along this stretch of coastline. Salou is the undisputed tourist capital of the Costa Dorada, immediately to the south west of Pineda, and a little further south there's the fishing village of Cambrils. Pineda is by no means the liveliest of the three resorts and active teenagers would find the pace here a bit slow - but this is a perfect holiday spot for families with young children and couples seeking a relaxing sunshine break.

The resort is easily reached via two international airports - Reus is just 10 kilometres away and Barcelona is about an hour's drive north east. Pineda has long been popular with Spanish tourists but it's only been in the last 20 years that international visitors have started to flock here. You'll find holidaymakers of many different nationalities, particularly Russians and Brits.

Salou

Salou is located in the Spanish region of Catalonia on the Costa Dorada. This aptly named Costa (literally "the Gold Coast") extends from the north of Barcelona to south of Tarragona with seemingly endless stretches of clean, soft sandy beaches and crystal clear water. Salou is the undisputed capital of this coastline which is one of the Mediterranean's most popular playgrounds.

The resort is particularly favoured by British tourists, partly because of its proximity to the nearby airport of Reus which is only 15 minutes drive away. The airport handles regular charter flights from London; average flying time is just two hours. International tourists also use scheduled flights into Barcelona, about one hour's drive north of Salou.
